I had so many great conversations over the past few weeks and wanted to shout out a few amazing innovators doing cool things in the Studio space:

Zuby Onwuta is building a Studio to help disabled entrepreneurs bring disruptive tech to market. Beto Lopez, of Design Run Group, is scaling a Venture Studio innovating healthcare solutions for vulnerable communities. And Chad McCaffrey, founder of Corridor Ventures, is pioneering a new web3 community on a mission to transform 1 million fathers into the best version of themselves.

This week I’m thinking about the challenges Venture Studios are best positioned to solve. I believe that participating in the innovation ecosystem comes with responsibilities. Just as a doctor takes an oath to do no harm, we too stand by the principle to create products, services, and tech that makes the world a better place.

As a global population, we can’t ignore that there are huge systemic problems to fix. The UN has a list of 17, but just to call out a few, we need to save the planet from degradation, reform education, make cities safer, eradicate world hunger, and ensure universal access to healthcare.

These challenges are too complex for entrepreneurs to tackle on their own, they’re too abstract for traditional venture capital to back, and they’re too long-tailed for accelerators to run a program around… are we doomed?

No. Fear not.

I believe Venture Studios are the right model to solve the world’s biggest problems. Studios have the proper infrastructure, value incentives, deep access to talent, and capital necessary to take on these “wicked problems”. I implore you to consider these challenges as you think about building your next batch of companies- as a Studio operator, you’re in the right position to save the world.
