Welcome to the Startup Studio newsletter - let’s dive in!
I often encourage experienced founders to explore the Venture Studio route as they think about what’s next.
Contrary to popular belief, I actually think serial founders benefit more from Venture Studio partnership than first-time founders because Studios empower experienced founders to go further faster and skip a bunch of the foundational tasks that serial founders just don’t want to do - like registering the company, filing taxes, setting up the CRM, finding office space, hooking up phones and wifi… the list goes on.
I came across an article over the weekend about this topic and thought it was great at succinctly answering the questions serial founders often have about Studios.
The author, Amish Patel, cites the following reasons as some of the most important:
Access to expertise and resources
Higher chance of success
Efficiency and speed
Alignment of interests
I wrote a similar article a while back. It’s an interview with Matt Blumberg- a massively successful serial entrepreneur and the CEO of Bolster, a HighAlpha portfolio company. My takeaways were similar to the insights Amish pointed out:
Network: Studios can bring first clients and great fit partners to the table
Speed: Studios handle administration so the founder can focus on product & sales
Support: Studios supplement the early team with outsourced resources like design
If you’re an experienced entrepreneur looking for a fresh new challenge, I implore you to get in touch with some Venture Studios that specialize in the area you’re passionate about.
There are 700+ Studios worldwide with new ones launching every week - if you put the energy in to explore this option, you’ll find a world of possibility you never knew existed.
Also, be sure to check out the Jobs section below for open roles - co-founding with a Studio or working directly for a Studio on the internal team!
